Language requirements for non-EU students

Admission requirements for non-EU students enrolling in the first year of undergraduate degree courses

To begin your university career at Unistrasi, your Italian language skills must be:

  • certified;
  • be at level B2 if you come from a country outside the European Union;
  • be at level B1 if you come from an East Asian country.
    (This requirement does not apply if you have obtained an upper secondary school diploma in an EU language).

How to document your language level

 Your italian language level must be documented through a certification issued by one of the following institutions:

How to get the language certificate

Non-EU students who do not have a certificate attesting to the required language level must take a test called CILSSU.
The University's Academic Affairs Office will email students required to take the CILSSU test.

When to take the CILSSU test

  • September 3, 2025

CILSSU test results

  • If you pass the CILSSU test, you may proceed to take the Entrance Knowledge Assessment Test.
  • If you do not pass the CILSSU test, you must attend the Italian language courses organised by the CLUSS Centre until you reach the required language level.
    Only then will you be able to take the Entrance Knowledge Assessment Test or begin the OFA (Additional Learning Obbligations) program.

Please note that passing the  Entrance Knowledge Assessment Test or completing the OFA program is required to take university exams.

Entrance Knowledge Assessment Test

After certifying your level of Italian, remember that you will have to take the entrance test, like all those enrolling in the three-year program at Unistrasi.

The Entrance Knowledge Assessment Test is a non-selective but compulsory test required by Unistrasi for all bachelor’s degree entrants. It is designed to evaluate students’ basic knowledge and to provide guidance for their academic path. It does not prevent enrollment.

When to take the entrance knowledge assessment test

● October 16, 2025
● November 14, 2025
● January 14, 2026

OFA Program

If you do not pass the Entrance Knowledge Assessment Test, you must begin the OFA remedial program and complete it by March of the first year of the course.
If you do not complete the OFA program within the given timeframe, at the end of the first year you will be able to enroll again in the first year as a repeating student and retake the Entrance Knowledge Assessment Test from the following October, provided you hold the required language level.

Those who do not have the required level of Italian will not be able to take the Entrance Knowledge Assessment Test and/or the OFA, and therefore will not be allowed to sit university exams.

Academic Guide

The academic guide will accompany you throughout your studies, starting from enrollment. It contains all the information you need and is available on the pages of each degree program.
