Straniere in Italy: the contribution of Licia Collobi and Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti (1945-1987)
The project aims to examine the contribution of Licia Collobi and Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, since World War II, to studies on extra-Western arts, investigating some cases inherent to the history of exhibitions, publications, artistic and photographic research in which the couple examined non-Western works and artifacts, thus introducing in Italy new paradigms of interpretation and representation of these “foreign” arts that differed from the current canons of national culture.
The research grant is co-funded by the Fondazione Centro Studi sull'Arte Licia e Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, created in 1981 following the Ragghianti couple's donation of their library, archives and photo library to the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, in whose funds and collections the fellow will have to carry out the research.
